In the next month or two , the Large Hadron Collider is due to be turned on again after its abortive effort last year . This hugely expensive and ambitious project is an attempt to discover the Higgs Boson particle which physicists predict will be found through this process . The Higgs Boson particle is the supposed missing link between quantum physics , where there is no matter , and our seemingly physical world of material objects . In effect , CERN are searching for the source of our physical reality . Governments do not put huge sums of cash into projects , unless there is a return of sufficient value and this could be the biggest pay out ever .
Many have been struck by the similarity between the look of the machine and the device in the film ” Stargate ” which allowed Kurt Russell and James Spader to be sent to a different dimension and the comparison is not a false analogy . In theory if someone can understand how the Higgs Boson particle works and manipulate it accordingly , it would then be possible to alter physical reality to whatever the programmer decides . It would not be impossible to create a world as in the movie ” The Matrix “ and it could give enormous power to those who are in a position to benefit . Like all scientific discoveries , it can be used for good or ill , but the potential is huge , and in the wrong hands could be disastrous . You have been warned !
